Residents Can Sign-up For Text Alerts

The City of Clinton is implementing a new method to communicate with residents-- text alerts.  A text alert is a one-way communication from the City directly to someone's cell phone.  "The text alerts will be used to notify residents of things that might be different from a normal schedule or special meetings," said City Administrator Jessica Kinser.  As of now, the City intends to use the text alerts to notify residents of changes to garbage and recycling pick-up, snow events and calendar parking enforcement, street construction or projects, and special meetings or events.  "This gives us a way to get information directly into people's hands rather than having someone search for the information."

Signing up is easy.
Step 1:  Text* CLINTON5 to 36000
Step 2:  Reply “Y” to opt-in to the program
Step 3:  Get updates from the City
Standard text message rates apply.  The service can be stopped at ay time by texting STOP to 36000.

Other ways to keep in contact with the City of Clinton include the City's website,, the City's Facebook page (Clinton, Iowa), and the Lighthouse Newsletter.
